Myopia Management (Nearsightedness Control)
Myopia, commonly known as nearsightedness, is increasing rapidly in children and teens. Higher myopia prescriptions are associated with a greater risk of serious eye conditions later in life, including retinal disease, early cataracts, and glaucoma.
At True Eye Care, our myopia management program is designed to slow the progression of nearsightedness, not just correct vision.
Why Myopia Control Matters
As myopia progresses, the eye continues to elongate, increasing stress on the retina and optic nerve. Slowing this progression during childhood and adolescence helps protect long-term eye health and may reduce the risk of vision-threatening complications in adulthood.
Evidence-Based Myopia Management Treatments
We offer several clinically proven treatment options and tailor each plan to your child’s individual needs.
Stellest™ Spectacle Lenses
Stellest lenses use H.A.L.T. technology to slow myopia progression while providing clear, comfortable vision. This option is well-suited for younger children or families seeking a simple, glasses-based solution.
Myopia-Control Soft Contact Lenses
Myopia-control soft contact lenses include daily disposable options designed to slow nearsightedness progression. MiSight® 1 Day soft contact lenses are the first FDA-approved daily disposable lenses shown to slow myopia progression in children ages 8 to 12 using ActivControl® technology.
Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
Orthokeratology uses custom-designed overnight lenses to gently reshape the cornea during sleep. This allows for clear daytime vision without glasses or contact lenses while helping manage myopia progression.
Low-Dose Atropine Therapy
Low-dose atropine eye drops are a well-studied option for slowing myopia progression in children. These drops are typically used nightly and monitored regularly for effectiveness and eye health.
Personalized Myopia Care
Each myopia management plan is personalized based on your child’s age, prescription, eye growth patterns, and family history. Our goal is long-term protection, clearer vision, and a reduced risk of serious eye disease later in life.
